Toberkeigh Bible reading and prayer suggestions Wed 8th April 8pm

Read through 2 Corinthians Ch1:3-11 and reflect on how God comforts us in our troubles…. so that we can then comfort others v4, reflect also that Paul when he despaired of life v8, he learned through this experience to rely on God and not himself v9. Note v 10-11 how Paul connects his deliverance from trouble with the prayers of Gods people and let that inspire you in your prayers for others tonight.

Easter is a special time! Give thanks that George Barkley has prepared his talk and Claire McCurdy her testimony for this Friday’s online Good Friday service! (www.toberkeigh.org.uk). Pray that both messages will be an encouragement to Christians and a challenge for those who are not yet Christians!

Prayers below adapted from PCI’s “Lets Pray” sheet available on PCI’s website:

1/ Pray for health workers who are caring for those with COVID-19. Pray for their protection from the virus, for stamina during long and intense work hours, and for safe protocols to be observed in healthcare institutions in order to keep them protected.

2/Pray that all the video messages of God’s word and worship, posts on social media, and phone calls would be used by God to speak into people’s lives and that those who as yet do not profess faith in Jesus would find a saviour. Please pray for me as I prepare for this Easter Son!

3/ Pray for our global mission workers throughout the world, especially in areas with high rates of infection. May God give them words of hope and equip them to love and serve those around them.

4/ Pray for grieving families who have lost loved ones to the coronavirus. Even as their hearts are breaking, pray they would know the nearness and comfort of the Holy Spirit. Pray that they would feel compassion from the Lord and from friends and neighbours coming around them.

5/Pray that God might use such a time as this to arouse people’s longings that they might find their source of true comfort in Jesus

6/Pray for Christians in every neighbourhood, community and city: May the Holy Spirit inspire them to pray, to give, to love, to serve, and to proclaim the gospel, that the name of Jesus Christ might be glorified around the world.

7/Pray for workers in a variety of industries facing layoffs and financial hardship that they be kept from panic and that your church may generously support them.

8/Pray for families with young children at home for the foreseeable future. Help mothers and fathers to partner together creatively for the care and flourishing of their children. Especially pray for single mothers and fathers who must find this period exceptionally difficult.
